Primary Reference / Psychological Conditions Behind Seeking / Uncertainty
Uncertainty:
—————————
Uncertainty arises when an outcome remains unknown.
The uncertainty may concern what will happen.
It may concern what will remain.
It may concern what may change.
When psychological satisfaction becomes associated with knowing or securing the uncertain outcome, uncertainty can give rise to seeking.
Seeking may then move toward certainty, predictability, or control.
The outcome itself remains uncertain.
What changes is the attempt to remove the uncertainty surrounding it.
Recognizing this structure clarifies why seeking can arise not only from what is absent, but also from the inability to know or secure what lies ahead.
