Dissatisfaction:

—————————

Dissatisfaction arises when the present condition does not appear satisfactory.

A different condition may then appear preferable.

The difference between the present condition and the preferable condition creates a direction for seeking.

Seeking moves toward the condition expected to resolve the dissatisfaction.

The source of dissatisfaction may differ.

The condition being sought may differ.

Yet dissatisfaction gives rise to seeking when its resolution is expected from a condition different from the one that is present.

Recognizing this structure clarifies why dissatisfaction can initiate seeking without determining what will be sought.
